Priorities

Vermont is wonderful place to live, and there is still a lot we need to do to make sure it’s a place where everyone can live, work, grow, and thrive. I am committed to working on policies that will help make this happen. As your senator, my priorities would include:

Supporting People, Families, and Community

  • Paid family leave for new parents and long-term caregivers
  • High-quality, affordable infant, child and elder care
  • Access to nutritious food and dependable housing
  • Universal primary care and affordable long-term care
  • Locally-accessible mental health & addiction services

Strengthening Educational Opportunities

  • Accessible, high-quality early childhood education for all children
  • Student-focused public schools that are safe, welcoming, equitable, and affordable
  • Technical education that is meaningful and relevant for students & employers
  • Affordable higher education for students and the benefit of our community
  • Adult education for new workers, transitional skills, & senior enrichment

Building a Vibrant, Sustainable Economy

  • Ensure equal pay and fair wages for all employees
  • Reinforce our strong arts, food & agriculture, and recreation industries
  • Help small businesses & family farms thrive
  • Improve access to reliable internet & cell phone service
  • Support jobs in healthcare, education, and social service sectors

Protecting our Environment

  • Preserve our working forests, open lands, and waterways
  • Promote farmers & foresters who use sustainable practices
  • Support smart development & low-impact, reliable infrastructure
  • Combat climate change through conservation & renewable energy
  • Ensure clean water for drinking, recreation, and wildlife habitat

Tackling these issues will take a lot of hard work, but together we can make progress.
