Teaming Up with Hannah Sessions for Senate!

I’m writing to share how excited I am that Hannah Sessions will be joining me to run to represent the Addison District in the Vermont Senate! Let me share a few thoughts about why I am thrilled that Hannah is running.

Hannah is best known as an amazing farmer. She and her husband Greg own Blue Ledge Farm in Leicester, where they raise a couple hundred goats and make the most delicious, award-winning cheese!

Hannah is also a mom of two kids, about the same ages as my kids. I met Hannah over 20 years ago on the East Middlebury playground where we both were chasing our toddlers around the play structures. For many years, I saw Hannah (or her dad) almost every Saturday morning at the Middlebury Farmer’s Market when my kids would eagerly line up to taste the Blue Ledge cheese and buy a wedge to bring home. Hannah and I would compare notes about our public service as school board members in different districts, and the juggle of being working moms with young kids.

When I first ran for the Senate in 2018 and over the years since, Hannah has been a trusted advisor to me on agriculture issues. In 2020 when the COVID shutdown hit and I was serving on the Senate Agriculture Committee, I talked with Hannah regularly about what farmers needed to make it through the crisis. And, when the floods hit in 2023, I consulted with Hannah and brought Congresswoman Balint to Blue Ledge to discuss farmers’ recovery needs. Hannah’s experience and wisdom have been incredibly valuable to me representing the county with more farms than any other in Vermont.

Since 2017, when I was running Emerge Vermont, the program that trains Democratic women to run for office, I’ve been talking to Hannah about running for office. She was set to do the training program when her tractor broke down on the first day of class and she decided she couldn’t yet commit to running for office. Nine years later, though, she’s ready, and I couldn’t be more excited!

Hannah and I are committed to running together as partners, and winning back both seats for Democrats! We want to be the first Two Woman Team to represent you, the people of the Addison District, in the Vermont Senate. We hope you’ll join us in this race. We plan to make it fun, and we’ll need everyone on our team!

Check out Hannah’s website to learn more about her, sign up for her email list, and make a contribution to Hannah’s campaign. And, if you haven’t yet made a contribution to my campaign, I would appreciate your support.

Thank you – and let’s go!
