I first ran for the Senate because I wanted to make the world a better place for my kids and yours. On Saturday, I marched with my daughter and hundreds of other young people in the 3rd Annual Middlebury Pride Parade, to show support for gay and transgender folks in our community. The event was organized by young volunteers, the Teen Center, and Ilsley Public Library Teens and supported by local community organizations, churches, businesses, and healthcare providers.

It was a joyous occasion on a gorgeous autumn day, exactly the type of event we need to demonstrate to young people in our communities that they are safe and loved. I was so happy to be a part of it, and I made it clear to LGBTQ+ kids that this senator and mom has your back!
On Election Day, we must elect state and national leaders who will work to make our communities safe and welcoming for everyone. The Republican Party has made it clear that they won’t protect the rights and safety of LGBTQ+ people or their families. Democrats stand for freedom and equality for LGBTQ+ folks, including the youth who showed their pride on Saturday!
With fewer than three weeks until Election Day, here are some things you can do to help elect Democrats, like me, who will protect LGBTQ Vermonters:
Support Ruth’s Campaign
* Make a plan to vote & write a letter to the editor about voting for me
* Make a plan to vote & post on Front Porch Forum about voting for me
* Make a contribution to help me reach voters across the district
Support Democrats in Vermont and Nationwide
* Sign up to volunteer with the VT Democratic Party to canvas or make calls for VT Democrats & the Harris/Walz campaign
* Volunteer with the Harris/Walz Campaign
* Volunteer with Lean Left Vermont to canvas or phone-bank in key states
* Help Three Flipping Things…to Restore Democracy send postcards to voters in swing states
Most of all make a plan to vote and talk with your family and friends in Vermont and around the country about their plans to vote. Check out these links about how to vote in Vermont and how to vote in other states to help you and the people you know make plans to vote. Thank you for your support. When we fight, we win!
