Becca Balint for Congress

Several months ago, I endorsed my friend Becca Balint for U.S. Congress. Becca has the integrity, experience, and compassion to be an excellent Congresswoman for Vermont. I have served with Becca in the Vermont Senate over the past four years and seen her bring diverse groups of people together to solve complex problems for our State.

As the only two women in the VT Senate raising school-aged children, Becca and I have worked together on issues that impact families like ours directly – childcare and paid family leave, equitable public schools, gun safety, affordable housing, strong social services, and access to health care. During the pandemic, mothers and kids were hit harder than almost anyone else. We need more moms like Becca in Congress who know first-hand the challenges facing mothers and their families right now.

Our small state has only one member in the U.S. House, so we must elect someone who is brave and thoughtful, just like Vermont. Just like Becca. Becca was unanimously elected three times by senators to serve in leadership positions, including as the first woman Pro Tempore to lead the Vermont Senate. She began as Pro Tempore during a raging pandemic and on the day the U.S. Capitol was stormed by insurgents. Becca knows how to calmly and decisively defend our democracy and lead through a crisis. She knows how to listen, collaborate, and make effective public policy for our state.

Please join me in voting for Becca Balint for U.S. Congress in the Democratic Primary on August 9. Let’s help Vermont maintain a strong, experienced voice in the U.S. House. Let’s help Becca make history as Vermont’s first woman in Congress. Let’s help Vermont families have a seat at the table in Congress. Let’s send Becca to Washington. Thank you.
