Every year, my hometown of Middlebury celebrates Labor Day in festive fashion, with a rally on the town green where musicians play, politicians and community leaders speak, and children frolic—always capped off with a speech from Senator Bernie Sanders. I was honored to stand on the podium this year, speaking to the crowd of hundreds about why I am running to represent them.
I’m Ruth Hardy, and I’m running for the Vermont Senate to represent all of Addison County, the Town of Huntington, and Buels Gore. I am running because I believe in hard work, community service, and responsive government.
I'm proud to announce that I have been endorsed by Vermont Conservation Voters, joining my fellow Democratic nominee Senator Chris Bray as the district's two endorsed senate candidates. I care deeply about preserving our working forests, open lands, and waterways; fighting global climate change through conservation and renewable energy; and ensuring that Vermont's water, air, and land is clean so Vermonters can lead healthy lives.
While my formal internship on Ruth Hardy’s campaign is over, I will be cheering and supporting Ruth from afar. Working on Ruth’s campaign confirmed what I already knew about her; she has a ferocious work ethic, is unapologetic about the issues she is passionate about, and listens well.
